White terror looms, says Baidhya

HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist Vice-Chairman Mohan Baidhya ‘Kiran’ today said the caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal’s expression regarding cooperation with his party was ‘dangerous and objectionable’. Baidhya said PM Nepal had claimed there was no possibility of cooperation with the Maoists.

Addressing a function organised in memory of Krishna Prasad Dahal

‘Kripaswor’ by the Kripaswor Memorial Academy, Baidhya said Nepal’s

statement was against the spirit of the peace process and agreements signed by the parties.

“We have taken it as a dangerous statement,” he said. He said the peace process and constitution would become uncertain with UNMIN’s exit. Baidhya further said threats

of possible state-sponsored white terror against the Maoists had started to emerge.

“Despite all these developments, we are committed to our goal. The party will stand united and face all kinds of challenges,” he said adding that the party was committed to beginning preparations similar to the ones made during the build-up to the people’s war in 1996.
